He holds a Master of Arts Development Studies-NGO management of Uganda Martyrs University- Nkozi, a Bachelor of Adult and Continuing Education of Makerere University – Kampala, Diploma in Education Planning & Management obtained from the Institute of Teachers Education Kyambogo – Kampala, and certificates in Workers Education (i.e. Training of Trainers-ILO), the Supervisory Management, Board of Directors’ management, Peace Building and Conflict Management, Poverty analysis, Resources mobilization, Human Rights Monitoring, Documentation, and Reporting-UNOHCHR and Human Rights Advocacy and Reporting, and Human Rights monitoring and the media obtained from African Human Rights Consortium in Botswana, among others.
Francis has 29 years’ leadership and work experience as a Human Rights Defender / Activist. He served as the Chief Shop Steward, Trade Union Workers Educator, Human Rights Monitor, Human Right Researcher and Advocate; Executive Director Trainee (EDT) and the current Executive Director of Human Rights Focus. He served on the board of Legal Aids Service Providers Network (LASPNET) as the northern Uganda regional representative and a member of the Legal, and on the boards of Human Rights Network – Uganda (HURINET-U), and Gulu NGO Forum(GNF), as their Chairperson among others. Francis is married and has children, and his passion is for justice.
