Who we are

Human Rights Focus [HURIFO] is a human rights member-based Non-Governmental Organization with a countrywide mandate to promote and defend human rights.

HURIFO was founded by 6 gallant sons and daughters of Acholi in Northern Uganda in 1994 to respond to the then deteriorating human rights situation in the region, resulting from civil strife and armed rebellion.

HURIFO is registered in Uganda as an NGO with the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Reg. No. INDR11874225NB) and as a Company Limited by Guarantee (Reg. No. 8001000030112829043).

HURIFO’s geographical focus is the Acholi sub-region formed by Amuru, Agago, Gulu, Gulu City, Omoro, Pader, Kitgum, Lamwo, and Nwoya districts.
